Texas Surveying Company, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Marian B. Hudson who had become Owner and Acting President of National Engineering Company, Inc. upon the death of her Husband Leslie Hudson earlier that year. National Engineering Company, Inc., based in Austin Texas, began operations in Gonzales Texas, as a civil engineering and land surveying company, in the early 1970's. The creation of this new corporation was to begin the process of transferring ownership of all of the existing assets of National Engineering Company, Inc. to Texas Surveying Company, Inc. for the purpose of dissolving National Engineering Company, Inc. Upon completion of that transfer of assets, National Engineering Company, Inc. was dissolved on December 1, 1983.
A Certificate of Incorporation, Charter Number 610889, was issued to Texas Surveying Company, Inc. by then Texas Secretary of State David A. Dean on June 9th 1982. The attached articles of incorporation named Marian B. Hudson as the corporation's Principal, President, and only stockholder, Stephen O. Pirkle Jr. as the Executive Vice President, Larry E. Hudson as the Vice President, and Jayne N. Iley as the Secretary-Treasurer.
Following the dissolution of National Engineering Company, Inc. Marian B. Hudson sold all of her stock in Texas Surveying Company, Inc. to then Executive Vice President Stephen O. Pirkle Jr., who became the new Principal and only stockholder, on December 20th 1983.
Texas Surveying Company, Inc. focused on surveying. Early on the emphasis was in the oil field, surveying oil leases, well locations, pipelines, and seismic surveying, as well as property surveys. The company maintained offices on St. Joseph Street in Gonzales Texas, and on Market Street in Lockhart Texas with travelling crews working oil field jobs all across the state. As the oil boom came to a close property surveys took center stage and are still the focal point of Texas Surveying Company, Inc. operations.
With the election of Stephen O. Pirkle Jr., Registered Professional Land Surveyor #4227 as the Gonzales County Surveyor the Gonzales Texas office became the center of operations for the company. In 1986 the Lockhart Texas office was closed and the records moved to Gonzales.
A two-story house was purchased by the company and converted into office space. This new building would house both Texas Surveying Company, Inc. and the Accounting Firm of Ashley Wayne Pirkle, CPA. On December 1st 1992 the St. Joseph Street location was closed and the new offices at our current location 1509 Water Street in Gonzales Texas were opened for business.
In 1996 Texas Surveying Company, Inc. began using a Topcon 211D total station which incorporates a digital theodolite with laser distance measuring. In 1998 efforts began to computerize company operations and recent upgrades and purchases of new computer equipment show great promise. Also in 1998 Texas Surveying Company, Inc. completed the first land survey to be recorded in the Gonzales County Official Records in which a portion of the field data had been gathered using a satellite geo-positioning system. With the introduction of these new technologies and innovations Texas Surveying Company, Inc. has set a standard of continuing progress and improvement in service to Gonzales County and the surrounding areas.
