From the beginning, the witness of St. Benedict's Farm has been recorded and passed on to others in the form of letters, essays and books. Through these mediums, (as well as by word of mouth), we have endeavored to extend and enrich our dialog on the Word of God. As the saying goes: "Two heads are better than one."
The Beroeans
Years ago, we began a correspondence circle called The Beroeans, inspired by the scripture, "The Beroeans were of a nobler sort than those of Thessalonica. They received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things be so." (Acts17:11) In this small circle -- from time to time -- we take up stimulating gospel questions. Many of our religious essays were first "tested" on the Beroeans.
At Books & Essays, you can obtain a list of the major writings to come out of St. Benedict's Farm. Much of that material was written by our founder, George Gannon who went on to the Lord in December of 1996. Only the first book, Your Friendly Neighborhood Monks, our history, has been formally published. However, a number of the others are available in three-ring binders, or in the case of the essays, as letter-size packets. Under Why Catholic? you can draw up one aspect of the Catholic faith, particularly in its Inter-Christian setting. And at Henry's Hollow Log, you can sample the Nature Column written for many years by Henry of St. Benedict's Farm (d.1998).
