First Step Learning Center provides day care and preschool services for children ages 6 weeks to 10 years old. Our days/hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Outdoor Playground

The center has 9 different rooms including an office, kitchen, music and library room and arts and crafts center. Each of the remaining 5 rooms are designed to meet the needs of specific age groups and activities. The rooms are equipped with restroom facilities including one that meets ADA specifications. The playground can be found directly in the rear of the facility and is surrounded on three sides by a privacy fence and on one side by a chain link fence. The playground is equipped with various toys and climbing structures for different age groups and activity levels.

Philosophy/Mission

At First Step we believe children are the world's most important people. Our mission is to stimulate positive thought process, in order to develop learners of the future.

First Step is not just a day care center, it is a place of learning. To enable your child to be successful in this first step in learning it is important to believe in, support and enforce the mission and goals of the center.

In order to accomplish our philosophy we have established goals to help guide us in our mission to provide an outstanding child care service to you and your child.

Programs

Music Time

Programs offered at First Step Learning Center include day time infant care, a structured pre-school program for 3 and 4 year olds, and school age summer and after-school programs. Some of the activities that your child will participate in are music related activities, safety and community awareness programs. Other programs involve arts and crafts and supervised free-play. These programs are highly encouraged as it provides your child with new opportunities to learn about themselves, cooperating with others and following directions. As well, it encourages self expression and expansion of your child's own creativity.

School Age Children: We offer the service of transporting children from East Avenue Primary and Gonzales Elementary Schools.

Holidays & Birthdays: First Step will observe the following holidays:

• Fourth of July
• Memorial Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Eve (1/2 day)
• Christmas Day
• New Year's Day

Photographs: Annually a professional photographer is available to take pictures at the center. Additionally, we like to snap photos of the children playing during the day to share with you.

* The parent and child are encouraged to take a tour of the facility in order to orientate them with the staff and facility.
