Day #12, 443 miles, Thursday 7/29/04 We had breakfast at a donut shop in Pagosa Springs, CO
and then headed South. We stopped for a photo shoot at the NM state
line.
We rode through several small towns and then to the
Rio Grande Gorge Bridge that I had wanted to see. I was very disappointed!
It was not what I expected. We stayed a few minutes and took a few
pictures, then rode on to Taos, NM.
The nuts on our exhaust system had come off again,
so we went to the Honda dealership in Taos to buy replacements.
We stopped at the Hatchas restaurant in Mora, NM.
The food and service were both very good! As we were getting ready
to leave we heard lots of thunder. The waitress told us that her
sister said they had a bad hail storm in a small town that we had passed
through earlier and it was headed our way. It was beginning to sprinkle
as we rode off and the sky was very dark behind us. We stayed ahead
of the storm all the way!
We turned onto the old Historic Route 66 and stopped
at the Route 66 Cafe in Santa Rosa for coffee.
It was getting dark when we crossed into TX.
We drove a few miles and then stopped for the night in Muleshoe.
