South Padre Island BikeFest!
October 9-12, 2003
10 bikes, 3 trucks and 19 excited people left Thursday morning for the trip to South Padre Island.  Several chose to trailer their bikes the distance, while the majority rode their bikes.

We're on our way!
We're all wearing our rain gear, and hoping for clear skies!

We stopped at a rest area for lunch.  It came a light shower while we ate.  Everyone showed interest in the sign warning visitors of poisonous snakes in the area.  Maria brought delicious homemade brownies for our dessert.

We are crossing the longest bridge in Texas and can see South Padre Island on the other side.  The island is a beautiful site!  We arrived with plenty of time to spare, and immediately went to the Convention Center to pick up our registration packets, t-shirts, Casino Cruise tickets and Mexico trip tickets.

After freshening up, those going on the
Casino Cruise met to board the ship.

Early Friday morning we gathered for our ride into Mexico.  We first
posed for a photo in the unique doorway to one of the island shops.

While waiting to leave we enjoyed music from the Mariachis.

We're almost ready for the Mexico trip.  Before getting on our bikes, we were treated to breakfast inside the race track building.

We were soon on our way to the border.

While riding, we met a couple from San Antonio, Veronica and Bobby.

At the border crossing we were escorted right in.

Once across the border we were met with hundreds of Mexican citizens.  Everyone lined the streets to wave to all the bikers.

Many of the riders were snapping photos.

Many parade watchers were doing the same.
